It didn't start with a book, a podcast, or a life-hack thread. It started with my Guru, Baba Hardev Singh Ji, sitting across from me and saying four words that split time in two.
Jago. Aur. Jagao.
Wake up. And awaken others.
He was telling me about Swami Vivekananda — the 19th-century Hindu monk who electrified the West with India's oldest wisdom, who walked into the Parliament of the World's Religions in 1893 as an unknown and left as a legend. But Baba Ji wasn't giving me a history lesson. He was giving me a mission briefing.
Vivekananda's full command was this: "Arise, Awake, and Stop Not Till the Goal is Reached." It comes from the Katha Upanishad, an ancient dialogue between a young seeker named Nachiketa and Yama, the god of death. Nachiketa refuses to be turned away. He sits at Death's door for three days without food or water, demanding the answer to the ultimate question: what survives? What is real? What is the self beneath the self?
Yama, impressed by his hunger, gives him everything.
That story is not mythology. It's a template.
The Anatomy of Waking Up
Most of us are sleepwalking. Not metaphorically — functionally. We execute our routines, optimize our calendars, curate our feeds, and call it living. We confuse motion with direction, activity with aliveness. We're busy, but we haven't answered Nachiketa's question. We don't know what we're actually after.
Vivekananda saw this clearly in 19th-century India and he sees us just as clearly today. Colonization had sapped the spiritual confidence of an entire civilization. People had forgotten who they were. His antidote wasn't intellectual — it was a command. Arise. Stand up. Claim your full height. Stop crouching under the weight of what others have told you about yourself.
Then: Awake. Not just physically present but spiritually awake. Awake to the fact that you carry an infinite capacity inside you — that the same intelligence that organized the cosmos is the intelligence looking through your eyes right now. Awake to the gap between who you are and who you've settled for being.
Then: Stop not till the goal is reached. This is where the spiritual becomes practical. The vision isn't enough. The awakening isn't enough. You have to move, and you have to keep moving, through every obstacle, every setback, every season when the goal seems to have vanished into fog.
Why "Jago Aur Jagao" Breaks You Open
When Baba Ji added the second half — jagao, awaken others — everything changed. Because now waking up isn't just self-improvement. It becomes a responsibility. An ethical obligation. A calling.
There's a flame metaphor that I can't shake. One light, when it touches another wick, doesn't diminish itself. It multiplies. The original flame is still burning. But now there are two. Then four. Then a thousand. This is the geometry of genuine transmission — of real teaching, real mentorship, real inspiration. It doesn't subtract. It multiplies.
Baba Ji lit something in me. Vivekananda lit something in Baba Ji. The Katha Upanishad lit something in Vivekananda. The chain goes back thousands of years. And it comes forward, through me, to wherever you are reading this.
That's why Arise and Awake exists. Not to be another self-help platform. Not to sell you a morning routine. But to be a wick-to-wick transmission — to take what was given to me and pass it on with full force, full honesty, full fire.
What This Brand Is Actually About
I've been a consultant. I've built businesses. I've chased goals. I've sat in the dark at 2am wondering if any of it meant anything. I've had a Guru tell me things I wasn't ready to hear and needed desperately. I've become a father and felt the weight of that word — the terrifying, gorgeous weight of being someone's whole world before they know what a world is.
Arise and Awake is the attempt to integrate all of that. The ancient and the modern. The spiritual and the strategic. The fire of Vivekananda and the practicality of building a life that actually works. The philosophy of the sages and the tactics of the builders.
This is not about transcending the world. It's about showing up to it so completely, so fully, so awake — that you transform it just by being in it.
That's the philosophy. That's the mission. And it starts here, now, with you reading this.
